Care Village in Newmarket, ON is looking for a part-time Cook (HC/AC) to prepare and cook meals for residents according to menus and recipes. You will ensure food is safe, nutritious, and plated attractively, with textures tailored for therapeutic needs.

Reporting to the Nutrition Manager and Supervisor, you will follow HACCP and IPAC guidelines, assist with kitchen duties, and contribute to a positive dining experience for residents.

Qualifications

• Cook Certificate or equivalent (e.g., Red Seal, Culinary Diploma, or Institutional Cook Experience as per O. Reg. 246/22)
• Certificate of Qualification as a Cook issued by a recognized authority, or a post-secondary diploma/degree in Food and Nutrition Management
• Safe Food Handler Certificate recognized by Public Health
• Minimum 1 year cooking experience in long-term care, hospital, or healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of food safety, IPAC, and nutrition standards in Long-Term Care
• Proficient in preparing and modifying therapeutic and textured diets
• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and therapeutic diet menus
• Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand long periods, lift 25–30 lbs
• Excellent English communication (written and verbal)

Responsabilités

• Prepare and cook meals and snacks for residents, staff, and guests per menus and dietary requirements
• Ensure food is prepared and delivered on time, at correct temperatures and portions
• Modify foods for therapeutic or textured diets as ordered
• Plate meals attractively to promote dignity and enjoyment
• Assist with substitutions and menu changes as needed
• Maintain HACCP and infection-control standards in all kitchen activities
• Monitor temperatures and cleanliness of kitchen and equipment
• Collaborate with dietary aides and staff to support resident-centered dining
