Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a talented Construction Manager to join our team!

The Light Rail Construction Manager – Systems/Construction will lead and coordinate the installation and integration of rail systems including communications, signaling, overhead catenary system (OCS), traction power systems (TPSS), and MEP infrastructure. You will serve as a key interface between civil and systems contractors, ensuring timely, quality delivery in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role involves managing a segment of a complex, multi-billion-dollar program, overseeing activities from design through to handover, including coordination with design, procurement, construction, and post-construction activities.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Manage and coordinate all construction work for your segment, providing leadership and direction to the construction team.
  • Drive multidisciplinary work delivery to maximize Value In The Ground (VITG) according to the project schedule for systems and MEP aspects.
  • Develop staffing plans, 6-month lookaheads, and readiness matrices to ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with other segments and managers to define scope and documentation requirements.
  • Work with Procurement and Contracts teams to ensure resource availability and mitigate resource spikes.
  • Ensure technical and procurement expectations are well defined and tracked.
  • Identify opportunities for early value delivery and incorporate them into planning.
  • Implement safety and quality processes, ensuring safety leadership and method statement adherence.
  • Manage work package compliance, quality standards, and submission of construction certificates.
  • Monitor and control work package costs and schedules, reporting regularly with the support of the finance team.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of quantities, work completion, and claims assessment.
  • Be visible in the field, driving production and team engagement.
  • Mentor and train team members in site coordination and management of cost, time, and quality.
  • Own the project schedule within your segment, ensuring updates and mitigations are in place.
  • Ensure full compliance with project standards, including quality, safety, environment, and lifecycle performance.
  • Coordinate design and construction implementation with senior leaders to meet project requirements and vision.
  • Implement quality processes and ensure work is delivered to the required standards.
  • Promote respectful cooperation among all personnel, motivating success.
  • Support project communication efforts, providing information to stakeholders and the public.
  • Assist in recruiting qualified personnel for the project.
  • Contribute to testing and commissioning, including defect correction and as-built documentation.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field for systems (Communications, Signals, OCS, TPSS, MEP) with relevant work experience.
  • At least 10 years of field experience in large, multidisciplinary construction projects.
  • Experience in a similar role on transportation projects in an urban environment.
  • Must be local or willing to relocate to Edmonton, Alberta, for a 3-year project.
  • Experience with large joint venture infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Ability to navigate challenging construction terrains and outdoor conditions in Edmonton weather.
