Mission

Be part of this transformative journey and help us create a lasting impact for generations to come. We are looking for a Project Manager with buildings experience to join our team! The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the buildings related to construction activities. They should have a technical understanding of the scope being managed and the responsibility to ensure all work is completed within budget and on schedule.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure the construction complies with the Project Agreement, including safety, environment, quality, performance, and lifecycle considerations such as the Project’s ECO Plan, Health and Safety Plan, and all applicable legislation.
  • Obtain all necessary permits before work begins.
  • Direct planning and construction of the associated work, including design and procurement interfaces.
  • Ensure construction aligns with the design; manage design changes with approval from the Engineer of Record and City’s acceptance.
  • Collaborate with Superintendents, Construction Field Coordinators, and Subcontractors to ensure work scope is completed as per schedule and budget.
  • Supervise activities of construction superintendents and coordinators assigned to the work scope.
  • Maintain and update project information regularly, especially related to schedule forecasts and actuals.
  • Coordinate with the Procurement Team for tendering and awarding subcontracted services and supplies related to construction.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and update the Commercial Team for timely invoicing to the City.
  • Interface with Design, Procurement, and Construction teams.
  • Prepare documentation such as VRFQ packages, financial reports, schedule change proposals, and ensure timely submission and closure of ITPs, NCRs, and As-builts.
  • Assist in resolving project issues as they arise, communicating relevant information promptly to the Segment Manager (e.g., scheduling conflicts, design discrepancies, workmanship issues).
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a construction-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in large, complex, heavy public infrastructure projects, preferably with LRT construction knowledge.
  • Experience in contract management is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license; a clean driving record is preferred.
  • Ability to navigate construction sites, including stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain, and work outdoors in various weather conditions in Edmonton.
