Job summary

C Café Lunette, operated by Freehand Hospitality, seeks a Kitchen Steward to support the kitchen team in Halifax. You will maintain cleanliness and organize workflows to ensure a smooth operation while upholding safety and hygiene standards.

• Previous experience in a dishwasher role is an asset.

• Reliable transportation may be required late at night.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashers efficiently.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, plates, and work areas to meet health and safety standards.
• Clean and sanitize dishwasher mats, dish carts and dish racks.
• Receive, stock and organize food and supply orders.
• Safely handle and store cleaning products.
• General dish area maintenance including sweeping, mopping, organizing and garbage removal.
• Other related duties as required.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Chef de Cuisine, Café Lunette is seeking a Dishwasher/Kitchen Steward to support our kitchen team by maintaining cleanliness and organization to ensure a smooth workflow in the kitchen, while adhering to safety and hygiene standards.

What you will be doing as a Kitchen Steward:

• Operating dishwashers efficiently;
• Ensuring that kitchen equipment, utensils, plates, and work areas are cleaned and sanitized to meet health and safety standards;
• Cleaning and sanitizing dishwasher mats, dish carts and dish racks;
• Responsible for receiving, stocking and organizing food and supply orders;
• Safely handling and storing cleaning products;
• General dish area maintenance which includes sweeping, mopping, organization and removal of garbage and compost;
• Such other related duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.

The person we are looking for has:

• Previous experience working in a dishwasher role or similar environment an asset
• Strong attention to detail;
• The ability to take direction and remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment;
• Organizational skills and an ability to multi-task;
• Able to spend 100% of the time standing;
• The ability to handle heavy lifting up 50 lbs;
• A reliable form of transportation, as public transportation may not be available late at night.
