Job description

Additionally, teachers mentor students, over time, in reflecting on where their personal interests and strengths overlap with emerging career-life opportunities in the world.

All teachers must be prepared to use a variety of technology for planning, attendance monitoring, communicating classroom instruction and reporting, and be prepared to support the School Improvement Plan and District goals through Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing and the Four Blankets of Resilience.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • possession of a valid B.C. Teaching Certificate;
  • university training, or its equivalent, relevant to the posted position; and,
  • successful teaching experience relevant to the posted position.

DISTRICT

The successful candidate must:

  • possess a Master’s Degree in Inclusive Education;
  • demonstrate a high degree of knowledge and understanding in the social, emotional, and academic needs of students with complex learning needs such as students diagnosed with Autism, Trisomy 21 and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders;
  • demonstrate experience working effectively with School-Based teams and collaborating with outside agencies such as Occupational and Physical Therapy;
  • have proven skills in programming for and supporting students in inclusive educational settings;
  • have experience using a variety of tools including, but not limited to screeners, performance standards and progress monitoring measures such as data from school-wide write and Early Learning Profile (ELP);
  • co-creating effective goals and intervention plans for student success in literacy;
  • have experience in personalizing curriculum and assessment and programming for students in inclusive settings;
  • have experience using a variety of tools including accessible technology, visual supports, adapted and modified curriculum etc.;
  • co-creating effective goals and intervention plans for students with IEPs including Positive Behaviour Support Plans and Safety Plans and,
  • possess a valid BC Driver’s license.

Reporting to the Director of Instruction, the candidate primary objectives would be to:

  • improve the outcomes for vulnerable children;
  • promote trauma informed practices and approaches;
  • collaborate with classroom teachers in the implementation of structures and strategies of Pathways to Learning;
  • demonstrate leadership and support student personalized learning with classroom teachers through Collaborative Learning Supports; and,
  • in collaboration with the classroom teachers and education assistants, develop classroom support models for complex classrooms.

PLEASE NOTE: WHEN APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION, TRANSCRIPTS FOR ALL RELATED COURSEWORK WILL BE REQUIRED.

Salary range: $63,670 per year to $116,190 per year, based on category as assigned by the Teachers Qualification Service (TQS) and previous teaching experience.
