CMAC-Thyssen Mining Group in Northwestern Ontario is seeking a blaster to support drilling operations by installing explosives in blast holes according to blasting plans.

The role emphasizes safety, planning, handling and loading explosives, equipment checks, and following specifications. On-site position requiring a high school diploma and Ontario underground hard rock core training; candidates must read plans and work as part of the blasting team.

As an integral part of the drilling operations team, the blaster is responsible for installing explosives in blast holes according to the company’s blasting plans.

• Respect safety standards at all times;
• Inspect the work environment at the beginning and end of the shift;
• Complete the equipment inspection card (if applicable);
• Read and understand plans and specifications;
• Handle, transport, and store explosives (and accessories);
• Load explosives into blast holes;
• Unblock blast holes using a compressed air hose when necessary;
• Any other related tasks.

Requirements

• Have a high school diploma or other equivalent degree;
• Underground hard rock common core in Ontario;
