Job summary

Longview Logistics ltd is seeking a skilled truck driver to operate and navigate routes across Manitoba. Responsibilities include driving straight or articulated trucks, loading and unloading cargo, and ensuring cargo safety and security.

The role requires attention to vehicle condition, routine inspections, and accurate recording of hours of service and fuel use. Candidates should have a secondary school diploma or higher and consider GPS navigation and route planning as core tools.

Qualifications

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• Experience in trucking is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes to minimize fuel consumption and emissions.
• Address customers' complaints or concerns.
• Load and unload goods.
• Operate and drive trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Inspect vehicle and equipment including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections and ensure cargo is secured.

Tasks

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Address customers' complaints or concerns
• Professionalism in customer service
• Load and unload goods
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform emergency roadside repairs
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
