Job summary

ROADIES SHUNT SERVICES LTD. in Mississauga, Ontario seeks an AZ-licensed truck driver to plan routes, load and unload cargo, and transport goods across North America. You will perform pre-trip inspections, manage records of service hours, fuel use, and distances, and ensure cargo safety.

This permanent full-time role requires 35 hours per week with attention to route efficiency and vehicle maintenance. English is the working language.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid AZ class license.
• Secondary school graduation certificate required.
• English language at work.

Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes using GPS or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption.
• Load and unload goods.
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Inspect vehicle condition and tires, lights, brakes, and cargo security.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.

EDUCATION

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

TASKS

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Load and unload goods
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
