Job summary

Compass Transport in Calgary, AB seeks an experienced truck driver with a Class 1 license to operate flatbed or tractor-trailer equipment on long-haul routes. You will plan routes, load and unload cargo, inspect vehicles, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 2+ years of experience, on-site work, and willingness to travel across borders. Excellent organization, reliability, and teamwork are essential, along with a clean driving record and ability to handle cross-border

Responsibilities

• Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed.
• Plan or adjust routes using GPS to minimize fuel consumption and emissions.
• Address customers' complaints or concerns.
• Mountain driving expertise.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Load and unload goods.

Responsibilities

Tasks

• Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed
• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Address customers' complaints or concerns
• Mountain driving expertise
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Load and unload goods
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Pay and receive payments for goods
• Perform brake adjustments

• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
