Logistics Specialist

Westcan Bulk Transport

Location: Langley

The Kenan Advantage Group Inc. (KAG) is North America’s largest tank truck transporter and logistics provider, delivering energy commodities, specialty products, merchant gases, and food products across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Our Canadian operating companies—Westcan Bulk Transport, RTL Construction, Les Distributions Carl Beaulac, and Fisher Transport—make up KAG Canada!

We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Specialist to join our Langley team. Your training will begin with foundational customer service and administrative duties to build your knowledge of our customers, systems, and operations. As your training progresses, you will build on these skills and take on broader logistics responsibilities, including driver scheduling, load planning, and equipment coordination. This role is ideal for a service-focused team player who is eager to grow within the organization and build a career in transportation.

This role follows a modified shift schedule, 4 x 10-hour shifts, with one scheduled day of work either Saturday or Sunday.

Initial Training Focus: Customer Service and Administration

  • Learn customer service processes, order requirements, and the systems used to support daily transportation operations.
  • Assist with preparing loading and delivery instructions and reviewing trip information for accuracy under the guidance of the logistics team.
  • Respond to routine customer and driver inquiries, relay scheduling requests, and refer load changes or questions requiring logistics decisions to the appropriate team member.
  • Receive customer orders by phone, email, and fax; enter orders into TMW; provide order confirmations and routine delivery updates; communicate order changes to the logistics team; monitor TotalMail; and keep system information current.

Expanded Logistics Specialist Responsibilities as Training Progresses:

  • Plan loads by matching drivers, trucks, and trailers to customer orders based on load requirements and driver qualifications to optimize fleet utilization.
  • Schedule and assign work in accordance with hours-of-service requirements, driver availability, equipment needs, and routing.
  • Coordinate equipment availability to support fleet maintenance.
  • Clearly communicate all load-specific instructions to drivers.
  • Monitor tank product levels, confirm inventory using in-house software, and flag discrepancies for review.
  • Coordinate changes to planned loads and communicate revised instructions to drivers.
  • Proactively advise customers of delivery disruptions, revised arrival estimates, and changes to delivery plans.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of local geography to support effective routing.

Qualifications:

  • Previous dispatch or transportation industry experience, particularly in forecasting, workforce allocation, and scheduling, is considered an asset.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to anticipate issues, adapt to frequent changes, and respond to evolving customer needs.
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated accountability and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities while working independently and collaboratively.

Total Compensation:

  • Competitive wages, a company-matched RRSP/DPSP savings program, a bonus opportunity, a scholarship program for employees’ children, and referral reward payments of up to $2,000 per successful hire (certain conditions apply).

We have a strong culture of teamwork, with a balance of seriousness and fun. If you want to contribute to KAG's excellent tradition of innovation and leadership in the logistics and transportation industry.

External applicants under consideration will be required to undergo a company-paid criminal record search.

We are committed to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive culture where ALL employees and partners feel valued and appreciated for their uniqueness and contributions. We welcome applications from all interested individuals; however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
