Job summary

AIM, a family-owned leader in metal recycling, is hiring a Railcar Logistics Coordinator in Montreal. You will support daily rail operations, ensure on-time delivery, accuracy, and compliance, and collaborate with yard staff to meet shipping deadlines.

Requirements include 2–3 years in rail operations logistics, fluency in French and English, and proficiency with Outlook/SharePoint/Teams/Word/Excel. Postsecondary education in Business/Transportation is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in rail operations logistics.
  • Fluent in French and English (verbal and written).
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Transportation, or Logistics is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Authorize railcar releases per guidelines and monitor quantities to prevent over-shipments.
  • Ensure correct product content and routing of railcars to destinations.
  • Divert railcars as required and create new routing instructions.
  • Track monthly purchase orders and maintain records.
  • Monitor railcar flows to minimize charges and optimize cycle times.
  • Prepare daily reports on availability of empty railcars within territory.
  • Respond to internal customer requests with timely operational support.
  • Collaborate with yard staff to support daily operations and shipping deadlines.

Job Description

As a Railcar Logistics Coordinator, you will support daily rail operations within your assigned territory, ensuring the safe, efficient, and customer-focused movement of railcars. Reporting to the Railcar Logistics Manager, you will balance planning, coordination, and real-time problem-solving to ensure shipment accuracy, operational compliance, and on-time delivery.

Whatyou'reresponsible for:

  • Authorizing railcar releases in accordance with company guidelines and monitoring approved quantities to prevent over-shipments.
  • Ensuring railcars contain the correct product and are routed to the appropriate destination.
  • Diverting railcars as required and creating new routing instructions for new destinations.
  • Tracking monthly purchase orders and maintaining operational records and files.
  • Monitoring railcar flows to minimize asset usage charges and ensure efficient cycle times.
  • Preparing and sending daily reports on the availability of empty railcars that can be ordered or returned within the assigned territory.
  • Responding to internal customer requests and providing timely operational support.
  • Collaborating closely with yard staff to support daily operations and meet shipping deadlines.
Qualifications

To join our team:

  • You have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in rail operations logistics.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • You have strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate, and monitor activities.
  • You have strong problem-solving skills.
  • You can work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are able to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • You have completed post-secondary education, preferably in Business Administration, Transportation, or Logistics, which is considered an asset.
