Job summary

Osgoode Properties in Ottawa is seeking a full-time on-site Maintenance Technician to manage day-to-day upkeep of a residential building. Reporting to the Property Manager, you will coordinate repairs, cleaning, and safety inspections, ensuring reliable and clean living spaces.

The role requires 2–3 years in residential property management, strong DIY skills, and ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in residential property management.
• Excellent DIY skills for repairs.
• Ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs.
• Experience in performing janitorial duties.
• Knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations and computerized security systems.
• Must provide clean criminal record check.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work some evenings/weekends.
• English communication skills; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Ensure regular cleaning of common areas including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and cleaning of all halls, air vents, light fixtures, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, landings, entrances, elevators, laundry room, and office area.
• Prompt turnover of vacant apartments for showings or new tenants.
• Inspect building and outdoor grounds daily.
• Perform regular maintenance and light repairs, such as electrical, painting, and minor plumbing.
• Inspect fire equipment and ensure it is up to date with standard regulations.
• Complete seasonal duties (e.g., shoveling walkways, removing ice, garden maintenance).
• Follow safety protocols and provide customer service with a polished and professional approach.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $44,720.00 To $50,720.00 Annually

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Property Manager, the incumbent works at the building and is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the residential building . He/she is responsible for coordinating and completing all maintenance activities to improve the reliability, safety, and cleanliness of the building. The salary highlighted in this posting refers to the annual salary. In addition to the annual salary, living accommodations are provided as part of the total compensation for this role.

Requirements for success:

• 2 to 3 years' experience in residential property management
• Excellent "do it yourself" skills
• Ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs
• Experience in performing janitorial duties
• Conversant with Fire Safety Regulations and computerized security systems
• Experience in dealing with sub-contractors and trades people
• Good communications skills in English (French is an asset)
• Ability to work unsupervised and work as part of a team
• Must provide clean criminal record check
• Light to medium duty work required, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Some evening and weekends with a requirement to be on call
• Ability to drive between Ottawa Osgoode Property locations

Your new role and responsibilities:

• Perform other duties as assigned
