Litigation Law Clerk
Ready to make an impact as a Litigation Law Clerk? Our Client, a firm with offices across the province, is looking for a dedicated professional to join their Dispute Resolution Advocacy practice in Toronto. With a minimum of 5 years of experience, you’ll play a key role in a firm that blends innovation with a supportive, collegial culture. This hybrid position requires 3 days in-office, offering flexibility alongside fantastic benefits and perks. Key Responsibilities
  1. Communicating with clients to obtain documents;
  2. Maintaining an effective bring forward (BF) system in ACL;
  3. Drafting correspondence, including emails, pleadings, and reporting letters;
  4. Receiving, organizing, and reviewing client documents;
  5. Working with the eDiscovery team to ensure documents are scanned/loaded and coded in Relativity;
  6. Reviewing/coding and working with documents within Relativity database to produce Affidavit of Documents, etc.;
  7. Scheduling Examinations for Discovery and preparing and serving Notices of Examination;
  8. Summarizing transcripts and working with clients to prepare responses to undertakings;
  9. Compiling, preparing, serving, filing pleadings, motion records, application records, briefs, trial records, bookmarked pdfs, etc.;
  10. All aspects of trial preparation;
  11. Drafting Costs Outlines/Bills of Costs;
  12. Meeting with clients to obtain particulars regarding guardianship application files and other matters;
  13. Drafting Notices of Application/Motion, Affidavits, Guardianship Plans, Management Plans, Judgments/Orders, etc. regarding guardianship applications and arranging capacity assessments;
Qualifications
  1. 5+ years of experience as a Litigation Law Clerk;
  2. Experience in commercial litigation/dispute resolution advocacy litigation;
  3. Experience with appeals is an asset, but not required;
  4. A willingness to learn and understand the appeals process is required;
  5. A keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  6. A strong work ethic;
  7. Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail;
  8. Excellent communication skills;
  9. A keen ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team;
  10. Experience with technology and working in a remote/hybrid environment;
  11. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines;
  12. Experience with Relativity, Case Center, ACL, and a Document Management System (iManage) is an asset;
