Job summary

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is seeking a Litigation Counsel to join the Legal Services Division. The role reports to the Legal Director, Litigation, and focuses on providing high-quality legal advice and representing AGCO in various tribunals and courts.

The candidate must have significant public service/regulatory experience and a strong background in administrative law litigation. Requirements include a law degree (LL.B.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Law Degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from an accredited institution.
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
  • Eligible to work in Canada and undergo a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, timely, litigation focused legal advice on statutes and regulatory instruments.
  • Represent AGCO in litigation at Tribunals, Divisional Court, and Court of Appeal for Ontario.
  • Draft legal documents such as Letters of Incident, Orders, Notices of Proposal, Rulings, contracts.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies and law enforcement.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to support AGCO's operations and regulatory processes.
