Job summary

Synectics Inc. in Nova Scotia is seeking an Associate Lawyer with 2+ years of call in a Canadian province to manage complex plaintiff-side personal injury and civil litigation matters. The role offers substantial file autonomy and direct mentorship with no billable-hour targets.

You will draft pleadings, interview witnesses, coordinate experts, and handle discovery negotiations while working closely with senior counsel on high-stakes cases across personal injury and civil litigation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of call in a Canadian province
• Litigation experience; plaintiff or defence background considered
• Strong file-management and organizational skills
• Comfortable with client-facing work, negotiations, and settlement discussions
• Practical and pragmatic approach to litigation and resolution
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with senior counsel
• Comfortable challenging strategy constructively and executing agreed-upon plans
• Personal injury, occupiers' liability, or civil litigation experience preferred
• Experience with discovery and motion practice preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage litigation files from intake through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and settlement documentation
• Conduct witness interviews and coordinate experts
• Manage discoveries, mediations, and settlement negotiations
• Communicate with clients regarding strategy, file status, and settlement decisions
• Make tactical file-management and discovery decisions with strategic guidance
• Attend trials alongside senior counsel or other lawyers
• Develop expertise in personal injury, LTD, wrongful termination, and complex multi-party litigation
