Job summary

Manitoulin Transport in Prince George is seeking a Class 1 Line Haul Switch Driver to operate a line-haul route from Sunday night to Thursday night, departing Prince George at 10:30 pm. You will perform freight transfers in Quesnel and switch trailers in Williams Lake, with a possible return stop in Quesnel before returning to Prince George, and finish with shunting or local deliveries as required.

Applicants must hold a Class 1 license, have at least 1 year of pick-up and delivery experience,

Qualifications

• Class 1 license required.
• Minimum 1 year of pick-up and delivery experience.
• Knowledge of local area is an asset.
• Reliable and dependable.
• Deck experience is an asset.
• TDG, WHMIS, and forklift experience are assets.
• Criminal record check and 2 work-related references required.
• Current driver’s abstract required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 1 vehicle on a line-haul route from Sunday night to Thursday night, departing Prince George at 10:30 pm.
• Execute freight transfers in Quesnel and switch trailers in Williams Lake, with a possible return stop in Quesnel before returning to Prince George.
• Finish shift doing some shunting and/or local deliveries as required.
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment and document findings on an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with regulations.
• Ensure all freight is properly secured and loaded to prevent damage, loss, or insurance claims.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation, including bills of lading and delivery confirmations.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to management immediately.
• Adhere to all Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and maintain a safe driving record.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status and any delays or issues.
