Job summary

Aramark is seeking a Short-Order/Grill Cook for Saint Mary's University in Halifax, to prepare and produce menu items on the grill station at Dockside Dining Hall. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will work with the dining team to deliver quality meals efficiently.

This union position requires 1+ year of grill/cook experience, basic food safety certifications, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs; training and professional development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• 1+ years short order cook/grill cook experience.
• Experience with large quantity batch cooking.
• Working towards Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Cook trade.
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced); First Aid Certification is an asset.
• Must be able to work supervised and unsupervised.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull minimum 25lbs.

We are seeking a Short-Order/Grill Cook to join the celebrated SMU Dining Services team at Saint Mary's University! Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Line Cook is responsible for the preparation and production of all menu items on the grill station at St. Mary's University's Dockside Dining Hall.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preps and cooks food in accordance with the menu, using grills, fryers, and ovens
• May support front line team in serving customers
• Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all customers
• Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of work area
• Assists with culinary auditing, temperature checking of food items within kitchen, stations, fridge’s and freezers
• Ensure adherence to Aramark and St. Mary's University policies and procedures
• Shall attend all safety meetings and participate in Client and/or Aramark Emergency Response Procedures
• Additional duties may be assigned
