Job summary

Urban Circle Training Centre in Winnipeg invites applications for Life Skills Coach/Program Support to deliver wholistic, culturally-based life skills curriculum to about 30 Indigenous adult learners and provide wrap-around advocacy.

You bring Indigenous cultural knowledge, related credentials, and ability to work both in a team and independently within an adult learning environment; interview required and background checks will be completed.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Indigenous community and ability to relate to Indigenous learners.
  • Life Skills Coach Certificate or higher preferred.
  • Education/Teaching or Counselling credentials.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultural approaches.
  • Understanding of local social issues and barriers.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently in an adult learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate delivery of holistic, culturally-based life skills curriculum.
  • Provide wrap-around student advocacy and support services.
  • Support approximately 30 Indigenous adult learners in a classroom setting.
  • Participate in Indigenous cultural lessons with elders.

Job Summary:

The Life Skills Coach/Program Support position is essential of Urban Circle’s educational team. The Life Skills Coach/Program Support is responsible for facilitating delivery of wholistic, culturally-based life skills curriculum in a classroom setting of approximately 30 Indigenous adult learners. You will also be providing wrap around student advocacy and support services – empowering our students with independence. You are invited to join a team that is making a difference in our community.

Qualification
  • Persons from Grassroots community and can relate to Indigenous community in the core areas of city of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
  • Can have a Life Skills Coach Certificate, Bachelor.
  • Education Teaching Certificate, Counselling Certificate, Bachelor of Social Work and/or also have other related community experiences.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultural approaches.
  • Knowledge of community social issues, barriers and/or systems.
  • To be able to participate in all Indigenous cultural lessons working directly with our elder.
  • Able to working as a team member and independently in an adult learning environment.

You will be required to come in for an interview. Your references will be checked. Upon hiring you will be required to bring a current Criminal Record Search Certificate with Vulnerable Sector Search, current Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks.
