Job summary

Powell River Educational Services Society is seeking a part-time role in Powell River to support mental and physical wellbeing. You will work as part of a team to promote wellness and assist individuals with independent living skills and goal-setting.

The position emphasizes empathy, active listening, and effective communication; a personal vehicle is required for travel within the community, and a Criminal Record Check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide support toward improved physical and mental wellness as part of a team.
• Coach and support independent living skills, problem solving, and positive communication.
• Facilitate community participation and opportunities for connection, including volunteer work.
• Work two 3-4 hour shifts per week during daytime hours.
• Availability by text is important.

Salary Or Wage: $28.50 to $30.00 per hour

• Training or life experiences that have given you knowledge about mental and physical wellbeing, and neurodiversity.
• Ability to support skills for independent living skills, positive relationships, and problem solving.
• Personal or professional experiences that have deepened your empathy, sharpened your active listening and communication skills, or have taught you how to support others to set goals and then take steps to achieve them in an organized manner.
• Personal suitability is much more important than your credentials though having a CYC, CSW, MHW or related certificate may be an asset.
• Use of your personal vehicle is required.
• Criminal Record Check
• Drivers Abstract and Proof of Vehicle Insurance required
• Business use insurance and mileage is paid for by employer.

List of Duties

• Working as part of a team, provide support toward improved physical and mental wellness.
• Coach/support independent living skills, problem solving, and positive communication.
• Facilitate participation in community activities that promote wellness and provide opportunities for connection with others including volunteer work or employment.
• Work is usually completed via two 3-4 our shifts/week during daytime hours.
• Availability by text is important.
