Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an Orthopaedic Technician to apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment for orthopaedic patients in the Northeast Community Health Centre. You will monitor and document changes in patients’ conditions while delivering safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care.

The position requires completion of an accredited LPN program, eligibility for CLHA registration, completion of an Orthopaedic Technician program, and current BCLS-HCP

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
• Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• Minimum 6 months of experience as an orthopedic technician.

Description: As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
• Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).
• Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 months of experience as an orthopedic technician.
• Connect Care Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an Emergency Department.
• Previous experience in an Acute Care, Cast clinic, Med/Surg or ICU department.
