Job summary

Bayviewseniors seeks a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our long-term care team. You will assess residents, administer medications, support care plans, and collaborate with RNs, DOC, and care aides to promote independence and dignity.

You must be registered with BCCNM, hold CPR/First Aid, and be fluent in English. Shifts include day, evening, night, with weekend and holiday coverage as required.

Qualifications

We are looking for dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who are passionate about long term care. KEY DUTIES
  • Perform a range of nursing interventions such as initial and ongoing resident assessments, treatments, medication administration, wound care, falls risk assessment and prevention, transfer/discharge processes, as well as providing support and guidance, and education to the Resident Care Aides;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of care plans and nursing interventions in collaboration with the resident, family and interdisciplinary team.
  • Consult with the RN, DOC or Clinical Educator regarding topics such as nursing interventions, medications, treatments, dressings, tube feeding, complex diabetic care, etc.
  • Communicating with resident and families as required to ensure needs are met and services are highly satisfactory.
  • Demonstrating an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process and or living with a disability.
  • Facilitating and encouraging family involvement with residents.
  • Administrating medications within the LPN scope of practice and in accordance with regulations and standards.
  • Performing the appropriate delegated nursing skills accurately and skillfully.
  • Completing routine assessments and continuous observation of resident health status and reports observations to the Director of Care and then acting upon observations as appropriate.
  • Ensuring services identified in the Care Plan are provided in accordance with the established service standards and at the approved levels.
  • Ensuring that proper documentation of services and charting is completed as per policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring and maintaining records reflecting residents physical and mental condition.
  • Documenting resident incidents in the client record.
  • Ensure that resident rights are maintained and respected which includes confidentiality and the right to participate in his or her own care.
  • In conjunction with the RN/DOC, you will mentor, assign, and delegate other members of the team to meet Resident care and service needs.
  • Ensure the supply, control and safe keeping of drugs and narcotics on site.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
License/Designation:
  • Registered and in good standing with BCCNM
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • First Aid (Required), must have current Emergency First Aid
  • Food Safe Certificate, Food Handlers Certificate (Required)
  • Proof of COVID vaccination
Education:
  • Graduate from a recognized LPN Program and must hold a valid current registration with the BCCNM.
Experience:
  • Competent in electronic documentation and eMar
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written
  • Critical thinking and decision‑making skills
  • Previous experience in Long-Term Care Preferred

Schedule:
  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift (6:00 am - 2:00 pm)
  • Afternoon shift (2:00 pm - 10:00 pm)
  • Night shift (10:00 pm - 6:00 pm)
  • Holidays REQUIRED
  • Weekends REQUIRED
