Under the direction of the Manager or designate and in collaboration as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to complex but stable residents/clients. Responsibilities include performing assessments, planning and providing personal care, and executing nursing procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse operates according to the competency guidelines and full scope of practice outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, as well as agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
• MHSU positions also require additional education as outlined by BCCNM, especially for practice involving primary diagnosis of Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.

Skills and Abilities

• Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
• Ability to deal effectively with others.
• Organizational skills to plan and implement care.
• Knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice, including medication administration, as required by BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
