Job summary

AgeCare in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. You will deliver goal-directed nursing care within a supportive, person-centered environment, reporting to the Director of Care.

You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, administer medications, coordinate with physicians, and educate residents and families while maintaining quality and dignity for residents. Calgary-based position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as an LPN in the applicable province.
  • Experience in senior or long-term care is preferred.
  • Background in gerontology, rehabilitation, or complex/community care is a plus.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and care coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and time management.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation and Microsoft Office.
  • Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the care team using a person-centered care approach.
  • Conduct and maintain resident assessments, care plans, and documentation.
  • Implement and evaluate care plans, adjusting as required.
  • Participate in resident care conferences and support scheduling.
  • Assist with resident transitions including move-ins, discharges, and transfers.
  • Provide direct nursing care and administer medications and treatments per policy.
  • Safely manage medications and narcotics per scope of practice and legislation.
  • Educate residents and families about health conditions and care plans.
  • Coordinate care plans with physicians and other providers.
  • Address resident/family concerns and ensure timely follow-up.
