Job summary

Health Association Nova Scotia (Nova Scotia Department of Seniors and Long Term Care) is recruiting Licensed Practical Nurses to support continuing care and home nursing across the Northern Zone. LPNs will work with Registered Nurses and provide leadership to Care Workers in community and residential settings.

Opportunities are immediate across the province with attractive compensation and benefits. LPNs must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Nova Scotia.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed (or eligible for license) with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses.

Responsibilities

Health Association Nova Scotia is partnering with the Department of Seniors and Long‑Term Care to provide recruitment support to continuing care employers in Nova Scotia. There are numerous opportunities across the Northern Zone.

There are many available positions in long‑term care for Licensed Practical Nurses who have a passion for working with seniors, or with home nursing, where you will provide care to people of all ages in their homes and other community settings.

In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, the LPN performs a wide variety of resident care functions within the scope of practice, code of ethics, and governing legislation. The LPN provides a leadership and supervisory role to the Continuing Care Attendant/Personal Care Worker.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with various personal care activities
• Use of lifts and slings to transfer patients with a movement disorder
• Administration of medication
• Nighttime monitoring and assistance
• Light housekeeping (laundry, washing dishes, sweeping and wiping of surfaces)
• Basic food preparation of a blenderized feed for the clients
• Outings in the community
• Facilitation of community inclusion activities

Core Requirements
