Job summary

Ivy Meadows in Sackville, Nova Scotia is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses to join the team. We are seeking qualified LPNs for a gerontological care setting with a focus on person-centered care. 

Responsibilities include resident checks, medication administration, personal care, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. We offer full-time, part-time, and casual shifts with competitive compensation per NSNU.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program with pharmacological training.
• Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Nova Scotia.
• Current basic CPR certification.
• Recent clinical experience including medication administration and leadership duties.
• Ability to attend work regularly and consistently.
• Leadership/Charge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Resident checks and rounds including vitals, breathing, safety rounds and charting.
• Administer medications per Doctor’s orders.
• Provide resident personal care (feeding, dressing, wound care, etc.).
• Support residents, families, and staff; assist other Northwood workers.
• General duties: mail, paperwork, supplies, and task assignment.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training
• Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Nova Scotia

• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
• Previous experience in gerontological nursing an asset
• Leadership /Charge experience preferred

• Good problem solving and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting
• Knowledge of / experience with a team based person-centered care approach
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Resident checks and rounds (including, but not limited to vitals, breathing, incontinent round, safety rounds, narcotic, charting)
• Medication administration (includes processing Doctor’s orders)
• Resident personal care (includes feeding/assistance, bowel care, dressing, wound care, blood work)
• Resident, family, and staff support (includes addressing questions and concerns, assisting other Northwood workers)
• General duties and administration (includes mail, paperwork, ordering supplies, assigning duties)
• Completes other tasks and duties as assigned

Hours/Shifts:

Full Time, Part Time, and Casual (Various shifts)

As per the NSNU Collective Agreement
