Job summary

Elliott Coach Lines in Guelph is seeking a Licensed 310T Mechanic to join our shop, with opportunities for 310S to progress toward 310T or for Level 3 Apprentice 310T candidates to be considered.

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, you will diagnose and repair a large fleet of school buses and civilian vehicles, perform preventative maintenance, and uphold safety policies while coordinating with drivers, dispatchers, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a valid 310T license; 310S willing to progress toward 310T.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Thorough knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal safety provisions.
• Experience in preventative maintenance, especially in bus fleet.

Responsibilities

• Perform brake and safety inspections and routine maintenance.
• Complete vehicle inspections on a monthly basis.
• Respond to service calls and cold starts as needed.
• Adhere to safety policies and company regulations.
• Diagnose faults and determine repairs or replacements with supervisor.

Job description

Elliott Coach Lines has a current opening for a Licensed 310T Mechanic for our Guelph shop; 310S Mechanics willing to work towards their 310T, or Level 3 Apprentice 310T Mechanics will also be considered for this role.

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the Licensed Technician (Mechanic) is responsible for the day-to-day preventative and post-incident repairs of a large fleet of commercial vehicles. This fast-paced, but diligent role will diagnose and carry out all repairs for mechanical issues and problems discovered in various commercial School Buses and civilian class vehicles. The incumbent will maintain a strong sense of customer service while interacting with various stakeholders, School Bus Drivers, Dispatchers, Managers, Peer Mechanics, Apprentices and Governmental Agencies.

Job Duties

• Perform Brake and Safety Inspections and carry out preventative maintenance
• Ensure all vehicle inspections are completed in a timely fashion each month
• Perform service calls and cold starts as required
• Ensure you have knowledge of our safety policies and adhere to them
• Perform additional vehicle repairs as needed
• Adhere to compliance-based regulations from a Company, Federal, Provincial and Municipal perspective
• Complete reports to record problems and work performed
• Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
• Diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with the supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain in good standing a valid 310T License; 310S Mechanics willing to work towards their 310T, or Level 3 Apprentice 310T Mechanics will also be considered
• Valid driver's license
• Thorough working knowledge of Municipal, Provincial and Federal safety provisions
• Practical experience in preventative maintenance practices, particularly within the School Bus industry
• Ability to work in team-based, collaborative work
