Job summary

Alaska Avenue Dental in Fort St. John, BC, is seeking a Registered and/or Certified Dental Assistant for maternity leave coverage.

The role involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting dentists, taking X-rays, sterilization, patient education, scheduling support, and maintaining high standards of care. Qualifications

• Registered and/or Certified Dental Assistant with your Provincial regulatory body or association is required.
• Previous dental assisting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
• Assist dentists and hygienists during treatments, maintaining patient comfort and workflow.
• Take dental X-rays and digital images as required.
• Perform instrument sterilization and infection control following IPAC standards.
• Update patient charts and provide education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Support scheduling, patient flow, and administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with the dental team to deliver efficient, high-quality care.
• Follow all privacy, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
• Establish strong patient relationships while maintaining ethical professional behaviour.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday | 7:40am 5:15pm (paid set up & clean up time), 1 hour lunch break. * Please note this is for a maternity leave coverage until October 2027.
