Job summary

Alaska Avenue Dental in Fort St. John is seeking a licensed Dental Assistant for maternity leave coverage through October 2027. You will prepare treatment rooms, assist dentists and hygienists, take X-rays, and maintain patient education and comfort, while upholding IPAC standards.

The role includes scheduling support, chart updates, and collaboration with a skilled team using modern technology. Competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

  • Active registration and/or certification as a Dental Assistant with the provincial body.
  • Previous dental assisting experience is preferred.
  • Ability to take dental X-rays and digital images.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures.
  • Assist dentists and hygienists during treatments and maintain patient comfort.
  • Take dental X-rays and digital images as required.
  • Perform instrument sterilization and infection control per IPAC standards.
  • Update patient charts and provide education on oral hygiene.
  • Support scheduling, patient flow, and administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to deliver efficient, high-quality care.
  • Follow privacy, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Establish strong patient relationships with professional conduct.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday | 7:40am 5:15pm (paid set up &clean up time), 1 hour lunch break. * Please note this is for a maternity leave coverage until October 2027.

The wage for this DentalAssistantposition is$30-$36/hourdepending on skills, experience, and location.

Your Role:
  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment
  • Assistdentists and hygienists during treatments,maintainingpatient comfort and workflow
  • Take dental X-rays and digital images asrequired
  • Perform instrument sterilization and infection control following IPAC standards
  • Update patient charts and provide education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
  • Support scheduling, patient flow, and administrative tasks
  • Collaborate with the dental team to deliver efficient, high-quality care
  • Follow all privacy, safety, and regulatory guidelines
  • Establish strong patient relationships whilemaintainingethical professional behaviour
About You:
  • Registered and/orCertified as aDental Assistant with your Provincial regulatory body or associationisrequired
  • Previousdentalassistingexperience is preferred
