Job summary

Canadian Tire Bayers Lake – Store 465 in Halifax seeks an experienced automotive technician to join a high-performance team. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs, deliver accurate estimates, and communicate clearly with customers to build trust.

The role emphasizes safety, knowledge-sharing with apprentices, and adherence to policies. Required Red Seal Inter-Provincial Certification or Level 4 apprenticeship hours, CFC handling certification, and a clean driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Inter-Provincial Certification required.
• Level 4 apprentices with logged hours considered.
• CFC Handling Certification required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean provincial abstract.
• Ability to work with computerized systems; CoStar experience an asset.
• Strong knowledge of current automotive technology across domestic and imported vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to industry flat rate time allowances.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports for all work performed.
• Explain procedures and repairs to customers to build trust and long-term retention.
• Liaise with Management, Service Advisors, and Parts to ensure smooth workflow during repairs.
• Instruct, monitor, and share knowledge with apprentices.
• Perform daily bay inspections to maintain shop cleanliness and safety.
• Perform road tests in compliance with store policy.
• Report unsafe vehicles or shop hazards to management immediately.
• Comply with all company, store, and health & safety policies.
