Job summary

The City of Windsor is seeking a Licenced Motor Mechanic to join Transit Windsor on a regular full-time basis. You will perform maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on motorized vehicles, with a 40-hour work week and shift work as required.

Applicants must hold a 310T certificate, a valid Ontario G driver's licence, and a high school diploma. The role offers union eligibility with ATU Local 616 and a competitive pay rate of $33.20–$44.26 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Must have Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess current Certificate of Qualification 310T (Truck and Coach Technician).
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G Driver's Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver's abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • A Certificate of Qualification 310S would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performing maintenance and repairs to motorized vehicles and other equipment, using proper tools and methods.
  • Validating inspections, while abiding by all government acts and regulations, in a safe, professional and efficient manner.
  • Inspecting and performing preventative maintenance to equipment and motorized vehicles.
  • Diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding and/or replacing engines, computerized ignitions, various fuel systems, hydraulics, drive train, brake systems, air conditioning systems, air ride systems, tires, etc.
  • Operating a diagnostic computer terminal to help identify problems.
  • Reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Welding and fabricating using oxy-acetylene and arc welding equipment.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of equipment, tools, and work areas.
  • Writing detailed reports, estimates and work orders completely and accurately as required.
  • Communicating and cooperating with other employees with minimum supervision.
  • Guiding other employees and trainees.
  • Operating all vehicles and equipment.
  • Working in all types of weather and conditions.
  • Performing on-street repairs, bus change-offs and towing as needed.
  • Practicing safe working habits at all times and uses suitable protective equipment as required.
  • Following all guidelines as set forth by WHMIS training for the safe handling of materials.
  • Lifting/carrying various parts, tools across all ranges during the course of their daily duties.
  • Performing Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation's Health and Safety Program.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
