Job summary

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking a Library Technician at Stonecrest Elementary School. This 60% term assignment runs to June 25, 2027, for 21 hours per week (Mon, Wed, Fri; flexible). Salary ranges from CAD 27.22 to 33.67 per hour, Level 5, effective Sept 21, 2026.

You will manage library operations, assist students, and provide reference services under the Principal or designate. Experience and diploma in Library Tech are required; bilingual English/French is an asset.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Library and Information Technician is required.
• 1–2 years of library experience.
• Understanding of cataloguing and classification systems.
• Strong research skills and proficiency with internet searches and research tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; bilingual English/French is an asset.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Principal or designate, the Library Technician will provide technical and public services and perform other duties related to library operations such as organize, maintain, select, order, circulate print and non-print materials, provide reference services, research and prepare support materials for units of study, and perform public relations, supervisory and clerical activities.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Library and Information Technician, and 1 to 2 years of library experience.

• Understandingof Cataloguing and classification systems.
• Research skills required;
• Proficiency in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets and databases), ability to perform internet searches and use research tools.
• Experience operating and maintaining library software.
• Organizational skills required to schedule classes/small groups and prioritize concurrent tasks and deadlines.
• Interpersonal and communication skills required, including writing communication skills.
• The ability to use tact, judgment and diplomacy when dealing with staff, students, parents/volunteers.
• The ability to work in both English and French is an asset.
