Job summary

Oakville Public Library is seeking a Customer Service Technician to deliver exceptional service at Glen Abbey and Iroquois Ridge branches on a temporary part-time basis. Two positions are available, with shifts including days, evenings and weekends, paying $28.74–$33.81 per hour.

The role emphasizes outreach, digital literacy support, and collaboration to strengthen community access to library resources. A LIT diploma and ILS/RFID experience are required.

Qualifications

• LIT diploma with a minimum of one year of related library work experience.
• Experience with an integrated library system (ILS), RFID technology, Microsoft Office, and library technologies and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and promote library services with enthusiasm across interactions.
• Interpret and communicate OPL policies to guide customer interactions.
• Provide reference and readers' advisory services and connect patrons to resources.
• Assist users with branch technologies to promote digital literacy.
• Support outreach and community partnership efforts to improve equitable access.
• Assist with membership, circulation, shelving, and/or equipment troubleshooting.
• Resolve issues or escalate to in-charge staff as appropriate.
• Engage in professional development and stay current with library trends.
