LEVEL ARTIST
Reports to: Assistant Art Director
Permanent – Full-Time
The team
A small artistic team where you can collaborate with intermediate and senior colleagues with diverse skills. They're all equally friendly and eager to share their know-how and keep learning, creating a great dynamic of mutual support and communication.
What you will do
- Work closely in tandem with a Level Designer to create the visual aspect of a game level, while respecting gameplay mechanics constraints;
- Consult, establish, and collaborate with reference material and concept artists;
- Collaborate with the narrative team to help tell stories through environmental design;
- Use pre-established modular interior environment kits to build visually diverse environments;
- Participate in the research of visual references aligned with the art direction;
- Maintain performance and memory budget for your assigned environment, and help define optimization strategies;
- Present your work to the team and directors, and receive comments, suggestions and modifications;
- Be able to delegate and share tasks with other artists at the same level, and be able to support people with less experience so that they can contribute to the needs of the project;
- Model objects and environments according to game design.
What you bring
- The following levels and minimum years of experience are open: Intermediate 3 years and at least 1-2 published titles in video games, as a Level Artist ; Senior 6 years and at least 2-3 titles published in video games, as a Level Artist;
- Diploma in 3D artist from a recognized school;
- Experience with Unreal 4 and/or 5;
- Experience in creating objects or environments with 3D software and the application of 2D art;
- Experience in creating textures and manipulating shaders;
- Very good technical/artistic balance.
Even better if you have
- Experience with Terrain and Foliage tools (Unreal 4 or 5);
- Experience creating VFX with Niagara;
- Experience creating Shaders and Materials;
- Experience with Substance Designer and/or Painter;
- Experience with Blueprints (Unreal 4 or 5);
- Experience in scene lighting, LUMEN and Mesh Distance Fields (Unreal 4 or 5);
- Strong sense of responsibility and autonomy;
- Ability to express one’s own ideas and receive those of others;
- Respect the game’s deliverable and milestone dates;
- Strong team player;
- Ability to analyze and synthesize.
