We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant, Intellectual Property to join our Vancouver office! This is a hybrid role which will require in office work 4 days a week.

This role assists the practice of Legal Professionals through the provision of secretarial, clerical and administrative support. Legal Assistant's work with team members to provide excellent client service to both internal and external parties.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provides administrative support which includes proofreading, revision and preparation of documentation under the instruction of the legal professionals and transcription of data from various sources (eg voicemail, dictation, etc.);
  • Acts as a liaison between relevant internal and / or external parties. Routes or answers routine correspondence to relevant parties;
  • Provides clerical, administrative and general office support including, but not limited to, scanning, photocopying, faxing, scheduling and calendar management, receives / places phone calls with internal and / or external parties, mail, organizes travel arrangements, and scans PDF documents;
  • Provides billing support with respect to accounting and invoicing clients as required. This includes review of pre-bills, making corrections or advising Accounting to make corrections and mailing out final bill under a cover letter. Prepare expense requisitions etc.;
  • Creates and maintains physical and electronic files in accordance with standard procedures, including opening and closing files, conflict searches, etc.;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring :

  • At least 3+ years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant;
  • Community College Certificate / Diploma in a Legal Secretarial / Office Administration program and / or equivalent experience working in a legal professional environment;
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Civil Rules, procedures and practices;
  • Recent experience with Civil Litigation court procedures and practices;
  • Experience with Intellectual Property and Trademark practices is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge with Mediation procedures and practices is considered an asset;
  • Proficient knowledge of computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office;
  • Knowledge of the English language, including spelling, grammar, legal word meaning and word usage;
  • Superior writing skills necessary to draft and proofread documents and correspondence;
  • Organizational skills required to effectively multi-task;
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Detail-oriented in order to keep track of multiple files for more than one legal professional;
  • Knowledge in legal Accounting software;
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and be adaptable;
  • Ability to follow instructions and superior attention to detail;
  • Ability to demonstrate independent judgment and solve problems.

Compensation :

We offer a competitive total rewards package with the expected range of the annual salary to be between $52,567 to $72,625.

The final salary is influenced by the location of the incumbent and may fluctuate based on the qualifications, skills, and market considerations, ensuring alignment with internal and external pay equity standards.
