LEGAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – Health Law and Insurance Law LAA

We are currently seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to work with a vibrant and team-oriented group of people. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a Canadian law firm with Civil Litigation experience, be energetic, flexible, highly motivated and driven to succeed.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  1. Providing assistance to lawyers
  2. Liaising with other legal assistants, paralegals, lawyers and clients regarding file progress
  3. Drafting and transcribing legal documents, basic pleadings and correspondence
  4. Fielding client inquiries
  5. Managing bring-forward system for tasks and appointments
  6. Organizing meetings and scheduling discoveries, trials, and other court dates
  7. Preparing application records
  8. Keeping paper and electronic files up-to-date
  9. Preparing monthly accounts
  10. Conducting searches
  11. Providing overflow assistance and other various general administrative duties

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  1. Completion of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program
  2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant with Civil Litigation experience
  3. Excellent technical skills including Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel
  4. Strong spelling, grammar and proofreading skills
  5. Keyboarding at a minimum of 60wpm
  6. A good understanding of civil litigation rules and procedures
  7. Experience with maintaining an effective file management and bring forward system

  5. Solid decision making and problem-solving skills coupled with a willingness to learn and to adapt to changing demands
  6. A high level of initiative and resourcefulness
  7. Ability to prioritize tasks by deadline, work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  8. Professional, positive and can-do attitude

The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant education, experience and qualifications.
