Job summary

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Lecturer to participate in curricula and program development for the BScN Program. The role reports to the Site Administrator and advances education, scholarship, practice, and community service in line with the Dalhousie University School of Nursing and Nova Scotia Health.

Required qualifications include RN with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, NSNMR registration, and at least 2 years of recent clinical experience; BSCN teaching experience is preferred;

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with undergraduate nursing degree and a master’s degree, preferably in nursing required
• Current registration (in good standing) with the NSNMR required
• Minimum of 2 years of current clinical experience within last 24 months, preferably medical-surgical

Responsibilities

• Participate in curricula and program development.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate student learning experiences in the BScN Program.
• Demonstrate leadership in teaching and clinical practice; foster collaboration with Dalhousie University School of Nursing.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Site Administrator, the Lecturer is responsible for participating in curricula and program development that reflect health care trends and for planning, implementing, and evaluating student learning experience in the BScN Program. These activities are to be consistent with the curriculum, values, and strategic plan of the Dalhousie University School of Nursing and Nova Scotia Health. Through education, scholarship, practice and community service, faculty promote the advancement of professional nursing practice.

About You

We would like to hear from you if you have the following:

• Registered Nurse with undergraduate nursing degree and a master’s degree, preferably in nursing required
  • In the absence of the above qualifications, consideration will be given to those who are currently in progress of completing a Master's degree
• Current registration (in good standing) with the Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator (NSNMR) required
• A minimum of 2 years of current (within the last 24 months) experience in a clinical setting required; preferably in medical-surgical nursing
• BSCN student clinical teaching experience required, BSCN student classroom and/or clinical lab/simulation teaching experience preferred
• HCP-C certification
• Joint appointment with Dalhousie University School of Nursing
• Leadership skills in teaching and clinical practice
• Knowledge of ethical practice/standards in teaching, practice, research, and scholarly work
• Knowledge of the principles of adult teaching and learning, active learning strategies, and experience in facilitating learning activities
• Demonstrates effective collaborative interpersonal relationships with students and diverse groups in academic, health care and the community settings
• Well-developed conceptual, problem-solving, and decision-making skills for effective participation in diverse settings and in teaching and committee work
• Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Scale Type: Non-Union
Band: NU06
Hourly Rate: $53.59 - $65.65
Annual Salary: $104,498 - $128,010
