THE ROLE

The Learning Business Partner (LBP) drives learning and development (L&D) strategies aligned with business goals. Reporting to Senior Manager, People & Culture, this role focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs, supporting leadership development, and ensuring effective succession planning. The LBP will collaborate with key stakeholders to foster a learning culture, enhance employee capabilities, and strengthen career progression frameworks.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Design & Learning Development:

  1. Design and develop engaging and impactful learning programs using instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies.
  2. Utilize various learning modalities (e-learning, classroom, virtual, blended learning) to deliver scalable training solutions.
  3. Develop training materials, job aids, facilitator guides, and assessment tools to support learning initiatives.
  4. Assist Product Managers in creating technical training curriculums and programs to ensure employees and clients have a deep understanding of product features, functionality, and best practices.
  5. Implement learning technology platforms and tools to enhance training effectiveness.
  6. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.

Training & Development:

  1. Conduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and develop appropriate learning solutions.
  2. Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and coaching programs for employees and leaders.
  3. Partner with department heads and subject matter experts to design role-specific training programs.
  4. Support the onboarding process by designing and delivering structured learning experiences for new hires.
  5. Champion a culture of continuous learning through knowledge-sharing initiatives and self-directed learning resources.

Succession Planning & Leadership Development:

  1. Work closely with P&C – Business Partners and leadership teams to identify high-potential employees and develop talent pipelines.
  2. Implement leadership development programs to strengthen managerial and leadership capabilities.
  3. Support the design and execution of succession planning frameworks to ensure business continuity and growth.
  4. Provide coaching and mentorship to emerging leaders to enhance career development opportunities.
  5. Analyze workforce trends and skills demands to recommend future-focused L&D strategies.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  1. Serve as an L&D consultant to business leaders, providing insights and recommendations on talent development.
  2. Work with P&C - Business Partners and leadership teams to align learning initiatives with business priorities.
  3. Develop and maintain strong partnerships with external training vendors and industry experts.
  4. Drive employee engagement through learning and career development initiatives.

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in learning & development, instructional design, or a related HR role.
  3. Strong knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and training evaluation frameworks.
  4. Certification in instructional design, coaching, or leadership development (e.g., CPLP, ATD, CIPD) is an asset.
  5. Experience with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate), and virtual training platforms.
  6. Proven ability to develop and execute leadership development and succession planning strategies.
  7. Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  8. Knowledge of competency frameworks, career pathing, and talent development best practices.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Must have strategic agility, be open-minded, and demonstrate creativity.
  11. Must be able to work independently but also be a collaborative team player.
  12. Self-starter who proactively takes initiative on tasks and will be driving the change management efforts.
  13. Strong proficiency in computer and software skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  14. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously; attention to detail is a must.

Desirable:

  1. Experience working in a distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, or operations industry.
  2. Bilingual would be an asset.
