Qualifications

• Educational Assistant certificate or diploma required.
• Experience with students with challenging behavior is an asset.
• CPR/First Aid certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist students per individualized plans including personal, medical care, lifts, transfers and safety needs.
• Implement and reinforce strategies as directed by teachers and student plans.
• Record observations to support positive behavior strategies for students.
• Participate in collaborative planning meetings for student planning as requested.
• Prepare individualized program materials under teacher direction.
• Actively promote student learning, belonging and independence.
• Assist students with emotional/behavioural regulation per student plans.
• Respect confidentiality and privacy of student and personnel information.
• Support routine personal care activities and daily living routines.
• Assist in physical activity and motor skills development as directed by a specialist.
• Support medical needs including transfers, feeding and routine medical requirements.
