Job summary

IEM in Surrey, BC seeks a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements in a medium‑to‑high‑mix environment, lead Kaizen events, and develop standard work for lean manufacturing and operational excellence.

This 100% in‑office role requires collaboration with Quality, Operations and Supply Chain, and includes PFMEA, control plans, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance. Proficiency with CAD tools is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 3–7 years in manufacturing/process engineering with Kaizen and standard work.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge.
  • Experience with ERP/MES and engineering change control.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, optimize, and implement manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen events, root cause problem solving (8D, A3, DMAIC), and continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop and maintain standard work instructions for production processes.
  • Use data‑driven analysis (SPC, Pareto, time studies) to identify and resolve bottlenecks or defects.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to introduce new products and process changes.
  • Support equipment selection, process validation, and layout optimization for lean flow.
  • Lead PFMEA, control plans, and risk assessments for manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure processes comply with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Train and mentor operators and technicians on process changes and lean tools.
