Job summary

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, seeks a Leak Detection Advisor for Streamline Control across western Canada. You will support CPM leak detection deployments, assess client systems against CSA Z662 Annex E and API 1130/1149, and help establish robust monitoring foundations.

Working with senior staff, you’ll perform data reviews, help calculate thresholds, prepare reports and roadmaps, and travel to client facilities and control centres to deliver practical

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in oil and gas pipeline operations, SCADA, OT infrastructure, instrumentation, or related technical field.
• Foundational understanding of pipeline operations, SCADA systems, and control centre environments.
• Familiarity with at least one CPM leak detection method (CVM, RTTM, or statistical) via coursework or work experience.
• Basic understanding of CSA Z662 regulatory requirements or willingness to learn.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to technical documentation.
• Willingness to travel to client facilities across western Canada.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Leak Detection System Assessment: evaluate CPM systems against CSA Z662 Annex E, API 1130/1149, and identify gaps.
• System Monitoring and Alarm Analysis: review SCADA trends, pipeline telemetry, and flag issues for senior review.
• Compliance and Documentation: assist with client documentation for CER/audit readiness and maintain organized records.
• Client Engagement: participate in client meetings and contribute to deliverables under senior review.
• OT and SCADA Systems Support: apply knowledge to support alarm analysis and data quality improvements.
