Job summary

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring for an Intern to join the Leak Detection team. This 12-month contract position starts in May 2027 and reports to the Supervisor, Leak Detection within the ISU of Pembina’s Legal, People & Corporate Affairs division.

The role involves developing KPIs, scripts, and reports for leak detection, supporting batch tracking, pipeline simulators, and data gathering with AVEVA PI, Power BI, AVEVA SCADA, SPS, GIS, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering program or a related field of study.
• Programming experience: C/C++, C#, Python, VB.NET, or MATLAB with SQL knowledge.
• Knowledge of pipeline systems, hydraulics, and facilities is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop KPIs, applications/scripts, and reports for leak detection and batch tracking.
• Test pipeline simulators and document non-CPM leak test results.
• Assist in data gathering, analysis, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation using listed tools.

Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring for an Intern to join the Leak Detection team. This position reports to the Supervisor, Leak Detection in the Information Services Unit (ISU), part of Pembina’s Legal, People & Corporate Affairs division.

This is a 12-month contract position starting in May 2027.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Perform role‑specific responsibilities such as develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), applications/scripts, and reports for monitoring leak detection and batch tracking, test pipeline simulators, and document non-Computational Pipeline Monitoring (CPM) leak test results. This may also include participating in a project and presenting outcomes or learnings at the end of the term;
• Support day‑to‑day work and learning activities related to leak detection, batch tracking, and pipeline simulator data gathering, analysis, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation, using tools such as AVEVA Process Information (PI) System, Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI), AVEVA Enterprise SCADA, Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS), Geographic Information System (GIS), Microsoft Office, AI applications, and other applicable systems;
• Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" by caring for yourself and others and following Pembina’s Life Saving Rules at all times;

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering program or a related field of study;
• Computer programming experience in C/C++, C#, Python, Visual Basic .NET, or MATLAB, and knowledge of relational database and Structured Query Language (SQL);
• Knowledge of pipeline systems, hydraulics, facilities, and operation is an asset;
• Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program and returning to school following the end of the work term;
• Field of study aligned with, or providing relevant transferable skills for, the role applied for;
• Ability to commit to the full duration of the term and required schedule, Must be available to work the entire term (May 2027 to April 2028); and
• Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn in a structured environment, aligned with Pembina’s values and safety expectations.

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
