Job summary

Thyssen Mining in Ontario is seeking an experienced Underground Development Supervisor for a FIFO camp position on a 14 day in 14 day rotation. You will lead and coordinate underground development activities, ensuring safety, compliance with Ontario Mining Act and OHSA, and efficient progress.

Responsibilities include supervising drilling, blasting, mucking, ground support, and services installation; coordinating crews and equipment; conducting pre-shift safety meetings; and driving continuous

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in underground mining with a focus on development.
• Previous supervision or lead-hand roles in underground settings.
• Knowledge of underground development methods and ground support.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily underground development activities (drilling, blasting, mucking, ground support, services).
• Ensure compliance with Ontario Mining Act, OHSA, and site safety standards.
• Lead pre-shift safety meetings, inspections, and JHAs.
• Coordinate personnel, equipment, and materials to meet targets.
• Monitor ground conditions and quality of ground support.
• Communicate progress and issues to management and technical teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, geology, maintenance and ventilation.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Support training, coaching, and performance management.
• Participate in short-range planning and continuous improvement.
