Job summary

Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. is seeking a Test Lab Supervisor at our Varennes, QC facility. You will lead a team of test technicians responsible for validating transformer performance, ensuring safety, reliability, and quality for utility and industrial customers.

You will manage day-to-day lab operations, coach staff, and ensure test activities adhere to standards, procedures, and production needs. This role offers growth in transformer testing, ISO requirements, and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
• Degree in operations management or relevant training.
• Minimum of five (5) years supervising staff in manufacturing or test-lab environments.
• Experience in a unionized environment.
• Knowledge of ISO standards and SAP.
• Bilingual in French and English.
• Transformer testing knowledge is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop test technicians to support motivation, performance, and growth.
• Create testing schedules based on production priorities and track attendance.
• Ensure test procedures, quality requirements, and QA manual sections are followed.
• Manage non-conformities and guide improvements with quality data.
• Optimize resources while maintaining a safe, compliant workplace.
• Oversee equipment calibration and ensure accurate documentation.
• Lead hiring and training for test technicians.
• Update and maintain the skill matrix and assign tasks accordingly.
