Job summary

Northern Health in Burns Lake invites applications for a Lead Technologist to blend clinical radiography expertise with proven leadership. You will steer the Medical Imaging department's strategy and daily operations to deliver safe, high-quality care.

The role requires five years of clinical practice with two in supervision, CAMRT registration, and a valid BC driver's license. This position is anchored at Lakes District Hospital and Health Centre within a vibrant northern BC community.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized degree in Medical Radiography.
  • Minimum five years' clinical practice with at least two years in supervisory/management.
  • Current CAMRT registration and eligibility for BCAMRT.
  • Valid BC Driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee admin, budgeting, and supervision of Medical Imaging department.
  • Ensure standards align with regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Provide clinical guidance to Imaging staff.
  • Manage workload, quality, labour relations, HR issues.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and promote continuous improvement.

Administrative Component

In accordance with established mission, vision and values of the organization, this position is accountable for the administration, supervision, planning and budgeting of the department. Reporting to the Health Services Administrator on administrative matters this position is responsible for monitoring and managing budgets, workload, quality, labour relations and human resource issues. The incumbent is responsible for interpreting and implementing all organizational regulations, policies and procedures as they apply to Medical Imaging services.

Lead Technologist Component

The position is responsible for ensuring that standards for the Diagnostic Imaging staff are consistent with regulatory/accrediting body standards and relevant legislation. Provides clinical guidance to designated Medical Imaging staff practicing in the facility.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work

Rotating, Days - 08:00 to 16:00. This position works Stat Holidays, but does not work Weekends.

Qualfications
  • Completion of a recognized degree from an accredited program in Medical Radiography.
  • Recent five (5) years' clinical practice including a minimum of two (2) years’ Supervisory or Management experience in the assigned Allied Health field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and eligible for membership with the BC Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (BCAMRT).
  • Valid BC Driver’s license.

  • Teaching: Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Meditech and Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
