Job summary

Northern Health in Mackenzie, BC seeks a Lead Combined Lab/X-Ray Technologist (CXLT) to administer, supervise and plan Laboratory and Radiology services. You will provide clinical guidance, advise on budgets and personnel, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

This leadership role requires directing labor, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team, and upholding NH policies while driving quality and safety in patient care.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology program.
  • Eligible for registration with a provincial licensing body.
  • Three years of recent related experience, including one year supervisory experience.
  • Post graduate certificates in transfusion medicine and/or microbiology techniques.

Responsibilities

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Health Services Administrator or designate, the Lead Combined Lab/X-Ray Technologist (CXLT) is accountable for the administration, supervision and planning of Laboratory and Radiology services. The Lead CXLT is responsible for ensuring that standards for Laboratory and Radiology are consistent with regulatory, accrediting body standards and relevant legislation. The Lead CXLT provides clinical guidance to Laboratory and Radiology staff and advises the Health Services Administrator (or designate) on matters regarding laboratory and radiology practices. The Lead CXLT will advise on budgets, workload, labour relations, personnel, and best practice. The Lead CXLT is also responsible for interpreting and implementing regulations, policies, and procedures as they apply to laboratory and radiology Services.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Monday to Friday. Days - 08:00 to 14:30

Qualfications
  • Graduation from an approved Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology program. Eligible for registration with a provincial licensing body.
  • Three (3) years’ recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • May hold post graduate certificate in transfusion medicine techniques and/or post graduate certificate in microbiology techniques.

  • Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using, oral written and computer communication means. Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem-solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making skills using a systems approach.
  • Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.
  • Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking. Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
  • Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Meditech and Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
