Job summary

The Corporation of the City of North Vancouver is seeking a Supervisor 1 (Solid Waste) for a Regular Full Time position. You will report to the Section Manager, Operations and oversee crews in solid waste pickup, litter collection and street cleaning, ensuring safety and performance standards are met.

Qualifications

• Grade 12, supplemented by a diploma or trade qualifications in a related field.
• Considerable knowledge of municipal solid waste and maintenance operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft and IPS or similar systems.
• Ability to supervise and assist in the work of a small group of employees.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise crews engaged in solid waste pickup, litter collection and street cleaning/sweeping.
• Schedule, coordinate and supervise truck drivers, equipment operators and external contractors.
• Plan, develop and implement municipal solid waste management programs to increase diversion and reduce waste production.
