THE JOB

Be part of something special! This role of Lead Engineer (Android) will involve a mix of coding and collaboration responsibilities to help sustain and grow our SDKs, which are embedded in over 500 client apps globally, some of which are among the top-used apps on the app store. You’ll be challenged to envision the technical aspects and solutions for the future landscape of globalizing/growing our SDK further. This role is a great opportunity to further grow your technical skills and deliver highly impactful products that help millions of fans experience live events.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  1. Design and implement features for an SDK that powers hundreds of apps used by millions of fans worldwide.
  2. Write, test, and instrument code for mobile applications to deliver high-quality, evolvable features.
  3. Participate in the entire feature development lifecycle, from idea phase to release.
  4. Build mobile interfaces that are properly instrumented and optimized for performance.
  5. Contribute to engineering innovation and improve the scalability and reliability of our mobile applications.
  6. Partner with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into functional, user-friendly mobile experiences.
  7. Drive impactful contributions seen by millions of users, enhancing their experience.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  1. 5-6+ years of professional experience in software development.
  2. 5+ years of software engineering experience (predominantly within Native Android Development) and a deep understanding of full-stack development, app performance, and architecture.
  3. Experience with agile development methodologies and project management tools such as JIRA.
  4. Extensive experience developing robust, mission-critical systems using multiple programming languages (Kotlin or Java).
  5. Deep understanding and practical experience with Jetpack Compose and modern UI development.
  6. Proficiency in Kotlin Coroutines and StateFlow/SharedFlow for asynchronous programming and reactive data handling.
  7. Hands-on experience with Hilt/Dagger for scalable and maintainable architecture.
  8. Expertise in MVVM, MVI, and similar approaches.
  9. Previous experience designing and developing solutions to complex problems with significant business impact.
  10. A strong understanding of how systems interact with the broader production environment, including dependencies and platform primitives.
  11. Exposure to React Native.
  12. Proven ability to learn other coding languages, platforms, frameworks, and tools.
  13. Experience owning projects from conception to production.
  14. Experience mentoring junior engineers.

NICE TO HAVE (or ADDITIONAL SKILLS)

  1. Proven ability to lead a team through the full software development lifecycle.
  2. Expertise in building software with infrastructure, databases, data processing, machine learning, distributed systems, security, and privacy.

The expected salary range for this position is:

$130,000.00 CAD - $170,000.00 CAD
