Job summary

• Strong written and verbal communication for non-technical stakeholders.
• Banking or financial services experience is a plus.

OVERVIEW

A major financial institution's Personal and Business Banking team is looking for a lead developer to join as a technical point of contact and mentor within an existing development team. This person will balance hands‑on development work with code review, task coordination, and cross‑team communication.

Hourly Rate: $64 T4 / $70 IC

Location: Hybrid, 1 day per week in office downtown Toronto

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own development work across assigned applications within the AWS/Node.js stack
• Conduct code reviews and help drive task completion across the team
• Serve as the primary point of contact in meetings for the applications they own
• Support developers with technical questions and troubleshooting
• Translate technical work into terms non-technical stakeholders can understand
• Manage own workload via Jira, including task tracking against delivery dates

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 to 10 years of professional software development experience
• Strong hands‑on experience with TypeScript and JavaScript
• Node.js runtime experience
• AWS experience, specifically Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and DynamoDB
• Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar) in a real production workflow, with the ability to speak to how output is validated
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• C# experience is a plus
• Prior lead or informal mentorship experience is a plus (not people management)
• Banking or financial services experience is a plus, not required
