Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a Lead/Senior Mainframe QE Analyst to drive end-to-end testing across debit-card and payment-processing platforms in a hybrid setting in Downtown Toronto. The engagement is a 6-12 month contract-to-hire with remote flexibility.

Ideal candidates will have 10-15+ years in mainframe quality engineering, strong leadership, and hands-on experience with CrossCheck or similar payment-switch platforms.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of quality engineering/testing in mainframe environments.
• Experience leading QA teams on cross-system payment projects.
• End-to-end payment/debit-card testing experience.
• Knowledge of CrossCheck/Connex is an asset.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Position Overview

A financial-services organization is seeking senior Quality Engineering professionals to lead end-to-end testing across complex debit-card and payment-processing platforms.

Specific Functions of This Role

• Lead quality engineering assignments independently, with proven abilities to identify issues quickly based on existing experience and knowledge
• Strong E2E capabilities and understanding of dynamic, complex technical environments
• Work on complex projects impacting core banking operations, with focus on debit card related projects
• Provide senior level technical analysis and support for E2E project teams

Responsibilities

• Lead quality-engineering assignments independently.
• Design and execute end-to-end tests across integrated payment systems.
• Validate debit-card authorization, transaction routing, clearing, and settlement.
• Test online, batch, host, and network-processing components.
• Identify defects quickly using prior domain and technical knowledge.
• Perform defect analysis and support root-cause investigation.
• Coordinate testing across multiple systems and stakeholder groups.
• Provide senior technical analysis to delivery teams.
• Mentor other quality-engineering professionals.
• Support large payment enhancement and modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of mainframe testing tools, network transaction processing, defect management and quality engineering methodologies
• 10 - 15+ years of quality engineering/assurance with senior mainframe quality engineering or testing experience.
• Knowledge of CrossCheck is an asset
• End-to-end payment, debit-card, or transaction-processing testing.
• Experience with complex integrated banking systems.
• Knowledge of mainframe testing and defect-management practices.
• Strong understanding of online transaction processing.
• Ability to analyze mainframe data and architectural flows.
• Leadership or mentoring experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills for complex problem solving
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Connex, CrossCheck, or comparable payment-switch platforms.
• CICS.
• Card authorization and settlement testing.
• Interac, Mastercard Debit, or Visa Debit.
• Mainframe scripting or automation.
• ISO 8583.
• Experience in a large financial institution.

Success profile

The ideal candidate has tested the complete payment lifecycle rather than one isolated component and can lead teams through complex cross-system validation.
