Job summary

City National Bank is seeking an experienced Scrum Master/Delivery Lead to guide medium-to-large initiatives in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. You’ll drive Agile ceremonies, manage dependencies, and ensure delivery goals align with stakeholder expectations while mentoring a 6–8 person team and collaborating on business analysis and UX discussions.

• Minimum 6 years in one or more agile methodologies for software development.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Scrum Master.
• Minimum 2 years proficiency with Jira or other Agile Management tools.
• Experience delivering small to medium complex projects with agile teams.
• Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

What is the opportunity?

City National is a US-based subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada, one of North America’s leading diversified financial services companies. This opportunity is within CNB’s Residential Lending division. This team is executing an exciting strategy to build an industry leading mortgage lending offering servicing US-based RBC clients.

What will you do?

• Provide delivery leadership for medium to large projects/initiatives
• Facilitate low complexity Agile initiatives from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with RBC/RBC Agile/Scrum practices, including but not limited to, project kick-off, sprint, release and deployment planning
• Accountable alongside the scrum team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet LOB stakeholders’ needs and expectations
• Track and manage risks to delivery
• Tracking and reporting financials for the Team
• Facilitate discussion leading to collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team
• Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies and simple team problem-solving, considering options and selecting solutions; escalated issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary
• Accountable for creating and maintaining the appropriate vehicles for open communication within the scrum team (e.g. tracker boards) to create a trusting and safe team environment
• Manage team performance to promote joint accountability for results and solve productivity issues
• Facilitating and engaging in business analysis, user experience and technical conversations across platforms
• Navigating and identifying shared IT services required by the team in the delivery of its objectives
• Serve as HR manager for a 6-8 person team of colleagues with diverse technology skillsets ranging from software engineering, quality engineering, application administration, etc.
• Active demonstration and reinforcement of RBC/CNB’s PRIDE (People, Relationships, Integrity, Dedication and Entrepreneurs) values in day-to-day activities
• Comply fully with all Bank policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements
• Complete all required training

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

• Minimum 6 years of experience in one or more agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP, TDD, CI) for software development and how they can be applied in a product development / program delivery environment
• Minimum 4 year of experience as a Scrum Master
• Minimum 2 years proficiency with Jira or other Agile Management tools
• Experience in project delivery with agile teams
• Experience with agile practices including scrum/Kanban, agile ceremonies (standups, backlog refinement, team demos)
• Experience working with vendors that provide resources using various models (staff augmentation, fixed price contracts)
• Experience delivering small to medium complex projects with agile teams
• Clear understanding of the various activitieswithin a delivery project
• Experience scheduling activities across all delivery teams to deliver a common capability
• Strong communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally to articulate, measure and solve issues

Nice-to-have:

• Knowledge of Scaled Agile practices
• Knowledge of collaboration tools – JIRA and Confluence
• Experience with Clarity, Planview and/or RBC MIS (Management Information System)
• Basic financial experience
